Margaret Seery Schreiber

Beloved Mother

Margaret (Peggy) Seery Schreiber, 93, widow of William F. Schreiber of Stratford, died November 13. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Heffernan Seery.

 Survivors included her beloved daughter, Margaret Studley and her husband, Donald, of Newtown; a sister, Mary Seery of Stratford; four granddaughters, Maura O’Leary of County Kerry, Ireland, Elizabeth Myer of Newtown, Sarah Studley of New York City, and Kathleen Studley of Newtown; seven great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews, Ellen Marini, Laura Nemec, Thomas Nemec, Bernard Seery, Michele Hawley, and Brian Seery. She was predeceased by her brother, Bernard Seery and sister Jean Nemec.

Mrs Schreiber was a graduate of Central High School, the Bridgeport Normal School, and received her BS and MS at Western Connecticut State University. Mrs Schreiber was a retired first grade school teacher at Read School in Bridgeport. She was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association, the Guild of Ladies at St Mark’s Church, and the Gaelic American Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was an avid reader.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, November 16, at 10 am from the Dennis & D’Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, and at 11 am in St Mark’s Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Monsignor Lawrence McMahon. Burial will follow in St Michael’s Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, November 15, from 4 to 8 pm in the funeral home.
