Locks Of Love

On October 30, Janyce Toth, age 7, and her sister, Ally Toth, 6, went with their mother, Lisa Toth, went to Genesis Hair in Sandy Hook. The Toths decided together to donate their hair after a girl they knew was diagnosed with cancer. Ms Toth was interested to learn that Locks of Love has changed their policy regarding color-treated hair, and now accepts healthy color-treated hair of ten inches or longer.

Laura Hornby, 9, pictured with Marci Benitez at Fun Kutz in Newtown, donated ten inches of her hair to Locks of Love on November 6. Laura has been growing her hair out for two years, and decided to donate about a year ago. In fact, she got her inspiration from this very column in The Newtown Bee.

Heather and Marisa Leone donated their hair in memory of their grandmother, Eileen Shanks, who died of breast cancer. Heather is 12 and goes to Newtown Middle School; her sister Marisa is 10 and attends Reed Intermediate School.
