Hearth Cooking At The Curtiss House
Hearth Cooking At The Curtiss House
Bring in the logs! Get the pots and pans ready! Rev up the fire!
Many tasks need to be completed in preparation for the hearth cooking demonstration by Patty Graves and Bill Brett on Sunday, November 18, from 1 to 4 pm at the Matthew Curtiss House.
Secrets of hearth cooking as our ancestors would have done it will be revealed by the intrepid cooks. On tap for the making are a hearty soup and fruit pies. The two cooks wonât hoard their creations as visitors to the Curtiss House will be invited to sample the food.
Admission to the Curtiss House is, as always, free. Costumed docents will also be available to give tours of the house and spin some Newtown history.
The Matthew Curtiss House is at 44 Main Street. For more information, call the historical society, which owns and maintains the building and property, at 426-5937.
