Peace Will Cover Children’s Tree

Children of all ages are invited to visit C.H. Booth Library in Newtown on Saturday, December 1, to take part in The Children’s Tree, an annual non-denominational event that celebrates the holiday season. Craft tables will be set up for children to make ornaments for an evergreen tree that has been permanently planted at the library by The Fraser-Woods Montessori School of Newtown.

The event will run from 10 am to 2 pm. Tables will be set up inside the library’s children’s department and outdoors at the side courtyard.

This year’s theme is “Peace.” The tree will be decorated with white doves, hearts, and children’s hands joined together to represent unity.

The tree represents community and the event brings together families from Newtown and surrounding towns.  Last year’s event brought in 300 guests.

The tree will remain decorated until just after January 1.

There is no charge to participate in the program. The crafts supplies and refreshments are provided by Fraser-Woods School as a way for the school to give back to its community.
