Patrolling For Drunk Drivers

Police plan to have added patrol personnel on duty to check for drunken drivers during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Extra patrol officers will be on duty from November 21 through 24 during nighttime and early morning patrol shifts, according to Sergeant Chris Vanghele.

Officers will be checking for drunken drivers and for compliance with seatbelt and child safety seat laws.

Extra patrols also will be on duty on weekends in December, as well as during the Christmas and New Year’s periods.

A $6,350 grant, coupled with local funding, will cover police overtime costs for the extra work shifts.
