Occupation: I have had a general law practice on Church Hill Road for the last two years. Prior to that, I practiced with a firm in Waterbury. Being in town gives me a chance to be more involved in the community. I also changed the nature of my practice from exclusively litigation to a mix of trial work and transactional work â like setting up and dismantling businesses, residential real estate, and estate planning. This gives me a chance to work with clients and colleagues in a more positive setting. Both types of work give me a chance to guide people through what can be pretty unfamiliar territory. I received my bachelorâs of arts degree from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and my law degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
How Long in Newtown: My wife and I moved here from Bridgeport in 1990 after my daughter was born. I am originally from Washington, D.C., and moved to Connecticut when I graduated from law school.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: Lots of new people. I hope people take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the many civic and governmental organizations that operate in town. Fresh ideas mixed with local tradition will keep Newtown a great place to live.
Family: My wife, Doreen, and I have been married for 15 years. She is my invaluable paralegal/office manager. Our daughter, Kate, 12, attends the Middle School. Our son, Dylan, 10, is in fifth grade at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Hobbies: I love to camp and ski. Thereâs nothing like waking up on a crisp morning and enjoying a cup of coffee by the fire. I also enjoy cooking.
Favorite Books and Authors: I love Dave Barryâs column in the Sunday paper. Otherwise, I enjoy historical nonfiction and informational reading.
Favorite TV Show: There is a great new comedy on called Scrubs that makes me laugh out loud. I also never seem to get tired of those old Warner Brothers cartoons, which I watch with my kids.
Organizations: I recently served on the Newtown Charter Revision Commission, a rewarding and enlightening experience. I am on the boards of directors of the Family Counseling Center, Inc. and the Newtown Forest Association. I am also a member of the Newtown Chamber of Commerce, and am active in the local and state bar associations. I am active in St Rose of Lima Church through the Junior Youth Group.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: When we first moved to Newtown, I commuted to Bridgeport. I knew I was in the right place when I had to wait for the cows of the nearby dairy farm to cross the road.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Iâd love to get back to Bologna, Italy, where I spent a year in college. I am also partial to Ireland.
Personal Philosophy: If something is worth doing, itâs worth doing right.
