Struck A Curb
Newtown Police report Garrett Whelton-Pane, 24, of Bethel, operating a 2011 Ford Fusion S, was attempting to pull into a parking spot and struck the curb on October 31, coming to a stop on the grass section adjacent to the parking lot.
Whelton-Pane told police he was attempting to park and make a phone call when he struck the curb. He attempted to get the vehicle out of the wet grass and mud but caused the wheels to sink further.
No injuries were reported. Whelton-Pane’s vehicle was removed by a tow truck and towed for disabling damage.
Left Turn Not Right
Newtown Police report David Chomiak, 16, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2006 Honda Accord EX, was traveling westbound on Berkshire Road approaching the Wasserman Way/Berkshire Road intersection on November 2. At the same time, police say Anderston Costa-Campos, 31, of Danbury, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road, approaching the Wasserman Way/Berkshire Road intersection. Chomiak’s vehicle drove into the intersection in front of Costa-Campos’ vehicle to make a left turn onto Wasserman Way. The front bumper of Chomiak’s vehicle made contact with the front bumper of Costa-Campos’ vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Chomiak was issued a verbal warning for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.
Trailer Hit Car
Newtown Police report Edgar Yeznaian, 54, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., operating a 2012 Dodge Ram, towing a Dively Manufacturing Utility Trailer, attempted to change lanes from the right southbound travel lane into the left southbound travel lane on Wasserman Way on November 4. Christina Sierra-Madkour, 39, of Monroe, operating a 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV Luxury, was traveling in the left southbound travel lane on Wasserman Way.
The left rear area of Yeznaian’s trailer struck Sierra-Madkour’s vehicle’s right front bumper in the process of changing lanes.
No injuries were reported.
Yeznaian was issued a verbal warning for failure to maintain lane.
Breach Of Peace
Newtown Police report Donald Strait, 70, of Newtown, was arrested November 5 on the charge of second degree breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of November 23.
Cash Lost Now Found
Newtown Police report that an undisclosed amount of cash was turned into Newtown Police on November 6 after it was located in the parking lot outside the Dunkin’ Donuts at 6 Queen Street. The owner of the cash can retrieve it from the Newtown Police Department.
Struck Stump And Tree
Newtown Police report Wayne Lagasse, 30, of Naugatuck, operating a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited S, was driving southbound on Rock Ridge Road on November 7. Lagasse’s vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck a tree stump and a tree in the process.
No injuries were reported.
Lagasse was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
