Wendy Lea Fisher

Wendy Lea Fisher, 59, of Trumbull died in the early hours of November 12, at Columbia-Presbyterian, after a monthlong battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Fairfield County, she was born on March 12, 1957, at Norwalk Hospital.

Her husband, Robert Leonard Fisher, Jr; her son, Daniel Robert Fisher of Newtown; and her mother, Veronica Selwitz of Danbury, survive her. She also leaves behind her loving brother, David Selwitz, his wife Kathy, and their son. Her father, Roy Selwitz, predeceased her in 2008. Ms Fisher was part of a large family, and her memory will be cherished by her many aunts and cousins.

After spending the early part of her life in Norwalk, she later graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1975. She would go on to spend more than a decade with various banks in the area, where her presence was greatly appreciated by the community and co-workers alike.

She married Robert on New Year's Eve of 1992, and they later moved to Newtown, where they would raise their son. In late 2011, she underwent a successful lung transplant to combat emphysema, an ailment that she endured against throughout most of her adult life.

Ms Fisher will be remembered by many things, including her deep passion for art. Her landscape pieces and house portraits were greatly enjoyed by family and friends alike. She had an eye for design and was able to completely transform a room.

Among her many traits, she will always be known for her loving nature and caring attitude, which she extended to everyone around her. She had a fondness for animals that never went unnoticed and a certain soft spot for her dogs. She would always do whatever she could to help in any situation, and she never hesitated to offer a helping hand, frequently assisting in many ventures to help dogs in need. Commemorated for always putting others before herself, Ms Fisher's compassion will never be questioned.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, November 17, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Friday, November 18, at 11 am in Resurrection Cemetery on Route 25 in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Green Fur Kidz Inc, a charity that Ms Fisher held very close to her heart, by e-mailing donations@greenfurkidz.com.
