WIN Holiday Basket Program Seeks Support
Help feed families in need through the Thanksgiving Basket Program, now in its 50th year.
Women Involved in Newtown (WIN) coordinates a program to feed families as identified by Newtown Social Services throughout the holiday season. WIN seeks individuals, organizations, and school groups to “adopt” each family and provide food, toiletries, and paper goods.
A “family” could be as small as one person who requires assistance, or as large as eight or nine people. Some families have pets or specific dietary requirements, and some families will require special items such as diapers for young children. It is a great opportunity to give back to the community and to educate children about helping those in need. This year WIN expects to provide for as many as 70 families in town. Some families still need to be adopted.

WIN members also coordinate food and paper goods drives within the town and local schools to supplement what is given for each family. All of the contributions are collected at the Methodist Church the Friday before Thanksgiving and distributed to families that evening.
