Wolfpack Soccer Team Unbeaten

The Newtown Wolfpack U10 girls’ travel soccer team completed a undefeated season on November 12, securing first place in the division. Recent game results are as follows:

Newtown 6, Darien 0: Newtown controlled played the entire game with goals coming from Isabella Manfredi (2), Karsen Pirone (2), Sarah Tressler and Laura Augenbraun.

The midfield was led by Jackie Matthews and Kaley Meisenheimer, and the strikers who set up scores were Faith O’Hara and Hannah Groonell. The defense, which has been excellent all season, didn’t allow a shot on goal all game, and was led by Hannah Daly, Collen Phaneuf, and Kaitlyn King.

Newtown 6, Fairfield 1: Newtown was led by Kaley Meisenheimer and Karsen Pirone as both had hat-tricks, leading the wolfpack to the win. Jackie Matthews, Kaitllyn King, Laura Augenbraun, and Hannah Groonell set up goals. The strikers, Faith O’Hara, Isabella Manfredi, and Sarah Tressler had great runs down the sides and excellent crosses. The defense was led by Colleen Phaneuf and Hannah Daly.

Newtown 6, New Canaan 0: Five girls scored in one of the Wolfpack’s best showings all season. Sarah Tressler started off the scoring early. Laura Augenbraun, Kaitlyn King, and Isabella Manfredi all added scores before the half. In the second half Tressler added another goal and Jackie Matthews finished off the scoring with a great run from midfield. Strikers who set up scores were Faith O’Hara and Hannah Groonell. The midfield play was controlled by Karsen Pirone, and the defense was led by Hannah Daly and Colleen Phaneuf. Malia Gioffre, who was crucial all season on defense, was placed on injured reserve for this game.
