Mr and Mrs Douglas William van Riper

Douglas William van Riper and Kelly Rae Ritzen were married September 8 at The Dickens Opera House in Longmont, Colo.

The groom is co-owner of The Opera House and Third Avenue Grill, where the reception took place.

The bride is the daughter of Spencer and Pamela Ritzen of New Brighton, Minn. She was given in marriage by her father.

The groom is the son of Mary and Richard van Riper of Roxbury, formerly of Newtown.

Trumpet solos were played by Stephen Cuomo of Westport.

The best woman was Amy Marquardt of Minneapolis, Minn.

The best man was Stephen Frye of Boulder, Colo.

Flower girls were Dana and Bree Thomson of Amberley, New Zealand, nieces of the groom.

Junior groomsmen were Peter and David Maturo of Darien, nephews of the groom.

Ushers were Craig Vaccaro of Lafayette, Colo., and Michael Donohoe of Boulder, Colo.

The bride, a 1992 graduate of Bowdoin College, is a senior human resources representative at Sun Microsystems in Boulder.

The groom graduated from Newtown High School in 1981 and from the University of Colorado in 1986.

Following a trip to Ocracoke, N.C., the van Ripers now reside in Boulder.
