BPW To Escape To Tranquility At Avance Esthetiques
BPW To Escape To Tranquility At Avance Esthetiques
Newtown Business and Professional Women (BPW) will meet on Monday, December 3, at Avance Esthetiques day spa in the Sandy Hill Plaza for dinner and a special tour of the facility.
Avance Esthetiques provides day spa services for men and women, including a variety of facials, massages, reflexology, manicures, and pedicures. The spa also provides various body treatments, such as seaweed. The nail technicians and estheticians are state-certified and all of the massage therapists are licensed by the State of Connecticut. The entire staff participates in continuing education to stay current with the practices within their specialty areas.
Avance Esthetiques is owned and operated by Judy Volpe, who has provided day spa services to the Newtown community since 1991. Ms Volpeâs commitment to customer service is reflected in the slogan of her management and staff: âOur business is making you feel special.â
Avance Esthetiques has consistently raised the most money of any corporate sponsor of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk-a-thon in Westport. The day spa also hosts a table each year at the annual fundraising breakfast of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut.
Shades of peach and soft teal and soothing background music envelope visitors to the 5,000-square-foot âEscape to Tranquilityâ spa. The day spa promotes the importance of good health, both through the services offered and the emphasis on cleanliness and safety.
âWe use a medical autoclave to sterilize all of our nail implements, plus a UV sterilizer and a dry sanitizer for everything else,â Ms Volpe said. âAll of the products that we use are natural, botanical-based. Everything is safe and nontoxic.â
After being an accountant for several years, Ms Volpe decided to open up a small business of her own, and began the spa in 1991. Avance Esthetiques is a true spa, where the client enters an atmosphere devoted to making anyone feel special. The goals of Ms Volpe and her staff are to fulfill the clientâs needs, to nurture, and to create a haven of peace. The name was chosen because it means advancing skin care in French. The spa carries a private line of skin care products. Ms Volpe stays current on new trends by attending trade shows that provide a variety of classes on everything from staffing to marketing. Her clients come from all over the area, including Stamford and Manhattan.
At the December BPW meeting, Ms Volpe will talk about a variety of topics such as skin care, the spa, wellness, and how what she offers is not a luxury, but something women and men need to nurture themselves. There will be a catered dinner consisting of chicken, vegetarian pasta, grilled vegetables, and a variety of finger foods plus coffee and dessert prepared by Mary Ellenâs Creative Cuisine.
For reservations, $20, call Shelley Kappauf at 426-6362 by Friday, November 30.
