Winterfest Continues Its Celebration Of The Arts

NEW MILFORD — All are welcome and invited to the pre-Thanksgiving celebration of the arts “Winterfest” cabaret. In its tenth year, Winterfest features the Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts’ aspiring pre-professional artists.

Winterfest is an opportunity for parents, students and friends to witness and encourage the achievements of these students and to inspire future generations of students who may be part of the next Winterfest.

This year’s program will include all forms of dance, a piano and flute duet by Poulenc, excerpts from Broadway’s Jekyll and Hyde,  and the much-loved balcony scene from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The recent passing of 11-year-old Tara Beutler has inspired artistic director Arlene Begelman to create a choreographic tribute to her memory and talent. Three young dancers and the violinist Olivia Hylen will interpret a piece of Tara’s poetry entitled Gossip, a collection.

Performances will be on Saturday, November 20, at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, November 21, at 4 and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and seniors.

Proceeds support the Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts’ building fund and the guest artist series. Reservations are required as seating is limited; call 860/354-2978. The school is at 79 West Street.
