Two Complaints On Election By Robert H. Hall
To the Editor:
I write this as we wait for the results of the election.
I have two complaints about how this election has been conducted.
First, it is wrong for a sitting president to campaign for a candidate. I can remember elections going back to Eisenhower in 1952, and I have followed them ever since. I cannot remember any campaign where a sitting president did more than let his preferences be known, mostly from the White House, with a handful of joint appearances. How many campaign appearances did President Obama make, not performing the duties for which he was elected?
And second, someone, or a group of persons, committed themselves to stealing Trump signs all over town. I have put up four sets and three of them have been removed. A sign represents my exercise of free speech. Removal of those signs is a direct infringement on my inalienable right to support a candidate of my choice, not that of the sign remover.
Sincerely,
Robert H. Hall
