Thank You, HOM By Dottie Lourenco
To the Editor:
On Friday, Veterans Day, Head O' Meadow School had its annual breakfast for students and friends or relatives of the students who are veterans. The day starts with everyone in the school saying the Pledge of Allegiance outside by the flagpole.
As the students and their guests went into the cafeteria, they walked through students, stepping aside, holding the American flag and clapping. The cafeteria was decorated in red, white, and blue, with cards from the students, on the tables. A delicious breakfast was served. Then each veteran stood and gave their name, rank, and where they served in the military. The fourth grade sang patriotic songs and there was a slideshow of pictures of the veterans. The superintendent, principal, and the head of the PTO gave short speeches thanking those whose who served.
What a great way to teach the students that these heroes are the reason we are free. There is no better place to teach this than at school.
Thank you, Head O' Meadow.
