Joan Meszaros
Joan Sharkey Meszaros, 84, formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife of Stephen J. Meszaros, died November 12. Born and raised in Queens Village, Long Island, she lived most of her life in Fairfield before moving to Trumbull several years ago.
She had worked as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement.
She was a longtime parishioner of St Emery's Church, the St Emery's Sunshine Club, and most recently belonged to Holy Cross Church of Fairfield.
Mrs Meszaros enjoyed crafting, baking, and cooking for family and friends, as well as sharing her crafts and baked goods with those who were homebound. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, her loved ones say she will be greatly missed.
In addition to Steve, her devoted husband of 63 years, her children and their spouses, Cynthia and Richard Paltauf of Newtown, S. Robert and Stacy Meszaros of Milford, David J. and Debbie Meszaros of Oxford, Kathleen and Richard Pelletier of Monroe, Karen and Steve Parisi of Trumbull, and Carol and David Hespelt of Fairfield survive her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen J. Meszaros and his wife, Emily; Alicia and Catherine Meszaros; David Meszaros; Christina Matousek and her husband, Matt; Lauren Pelletier; Tyler Pelletier; Christopher Parisi; Mary Parisi; Zachary Hespelt; Abigail Hespelt; Nathan Paltauf; Emily Paltauf; her sister, Ruth Tyrrell; as well as several nieces, nephews. Her brother, Robert Sharkey, predeceased her.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 15, at 10:30 am, directly in Holy Cross Church, Tahmore Drive, Fairfield, with burial to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 14, from 4 to 7 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center.
