State Firefighters Get Federal Grant
Connecticut firefighters will receive a $102,600 grant from the US Department of Homeland Security, Senators Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman announced this week.
âConnecticut firefighters often are the first on the scene of a catastrophe. They should not be the last when it comes to getting critically important resources,â said Sen Dodd.
The award was made possible by the FIRE Act of 2000, a law written by Sen Dodd and co-sponsored by Sen Lieberman that gives local fire departments the ability to purchase new equipment and initiate education and training programs. The money is awarded as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
