Secrets From Denizens Of The Deep

RIDGEFIELD — On Thursday, November 20, from 7 to 9 pm, in the Ridgefield Public Library, the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History in collaboration with the Ridgefield Open Space Association (ROSA) and Ridgefield Public Library, will offer a slide talk for adults and older children called “Denizens of the Deep Reveal Their Secrets: Tapeworms of the World’s Sharks and Rays,” by Dr Janine Caira.

Admission is free. For information, call the library at 203-438-2282. The library is at 472 Main Street (Route 35).

Dr Caira will provide an exploration of the relationships between tapeworms and their hosts. When studied in detail, parasites have the potential to provide information about the migrations, feeding habits, evolution, and predators of their hosts.

Dr Caira is a parasitologist and professor working in UConn’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
