It’s Showtime For Ridgefield Chorale

RIDGEFIELD — Seventy-six trombones will come alive as the 65 members of The Ridgefield Chorale present “It’s Showtime!” on Saturday, November 22, at 7:30 pm. The concert will be at Veterans Park School, on Governor Street in Ridgefield.

Under the direction of coloratura soprano Daniela Sikora, and accompanied by Gina Wilson and The Ridgefield Swing Band, the production will offer stage music from Gilbert and Sullivan to current Broadway musicals.

The chorale is the only vocal group in the area that produces entertaining shows of pops, Broadway, and swing tunes, with an occasional dash of classical, for the enjoyment of both singers and audience members – hence the chorale’s motto “The Pops Chorale That’s Not Afraid to Take On the Classics.”

For this month’s production, Ms Sikora has selected arrangements that feature the chorale’s five-part harmony, and the professional talents of pianist Gina Wilson and the Ridgefield Swing Band, including “Hello Dolly,” “Something’s Coming” and “Tonight” from West Side Story, a medley from Beauty and the Beast, “Too Darn Hot” from Kiss Me, Kate, and “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray, among others.

In celebration of Ridgefield Library’s centennial celebration “Ridgefield Reads:  The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” the chorale will also perform a ten-minute medley of music from The Wizard of Oz.

Tickets for “It’s Showtime!” are $15 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for children ages 5 and younger. Tickets may be purchased from a chorale member or at the door the night of the show.
