Freshmen – Joe Collins, Chris Potter, Scott Perry and Joe DeVellis all scored touchdowns as the Newtown High School football team crushed Weston, 26-0.

Collins scored on a one-yard plunge in the first quarter to get the Nighthawks started (a pass from DeVellis to Kevin Regan put the ‘Hawks at the one). Potter added his touchdown later in the quarter to put the ‘Hawks ahead, 12-0. Perry then scored in the second quarter and John Nelson added the extra point to put the ‘Hawks ahead, 19-0. DeVellis put the emphasis on the rout by taking the opening kick of the second half all the way back for a touchdown. Nelson added another extra point and the ‘Hawks had a 26-0 lead.
