Fiddlers Two: An Evening With Richard Greene And Julie Lyonn Lieberman
California-based bluegrass fiddler Richard Greene will join forces with Newtownâs improvising violinist Julie Lyonn Lieberman for an evening of eclectic fiddle styles at Newtown Meeting House. The two fiddlers will perform on Saturday, November 15, beginning at 8 pm. Styles will include bluegrass, swing, blues, Celtic, and old-time.
Tickets are $12 if purchased or reserved in advance, $15 at the door.
Richard Greene, one of the most innovative and influential fiddle players of all time, first attained prominence with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys in 1966 as one of Mr Monroeâs first ânorthernâ band members. He then went on to found the revolutionary folk-rock group Seatrain.
Mr Greeeneâs return to acoustic music occasioned the invention of ânew grassâ or ânew acousticâ instrumental music. His many acclaimed releases in the folk and bluegrass world have been honored with Grammy and IBMA awards.
Julie Lyonn Lieberman is an improvising violinist and singer, composer, educator, recording artist, author, and producer. A DâAddario Performing Artist and the recipient of numerous ASCAP and Meet the Composer awards, she has performed her original music throughout the United States, Canada, and in Europe, worked on and off-Broadway.
Ms Lieberman is the author of seven books on improvisation, world styles, and creativity for string players, five instructional videos, seven hours of programming for National Public Radio on jazz violin, and an educational audio series for Homespun Tapes.
