Celebrating The Arts At Fraser Woods

Beloved literary characters Curious George and Sister Berenstein Bear greeted patrons at the Fraser Woods School’s recent Scholastic Book Fair and first annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show.

A performance by nationally renowned children’s entertainer Les Julian attracted a sizable young audience. Mr Julian charmed youngsters with interactive songs and storytelling. Holiday crafts vendors hailing from Newtown to New York City offered a variety of unique gift ideas. “The gym was transformed into a craft bazaar magnifique,” noted parent volunteer Mary Jac Reed.

Items included scarves, handbags, children’s clothing, handcrafted jewelry and cards, bed linens, pillows, hand-painted ceramics, and scores of other home and garden accessories.

Musician Paul Rogalin performed instrumental holiday pieces.

At the Scholastic Book Fair, eager readers found an array of selections, including award-winning books and new titles for all ages. Parent chairpersons Nancy Benedetto and Laurie Keller coordinated school volunteers to operate cash registers and help patrons with their selections.

Main event coordinators were parents Deborah Rhodes, owner of her own home accessory design business, and Joyce Rogalin. “I think our show brought a new flavor to this area by bringing in designers from the New York area,” said Ms Rhodes.
