Bonjour, Newtown High School!

Newtown High School students recently commemorated National French Week, November 5–11, with a celebration of French culture. French music was played during the school’s morning announcements. Principal Bill Manfredonia’s administrative assistant, Paris native Nathalie DeBrantes, reflected on her childhood with French-studying students. She conducted her presentation speaking entirely in French. French-studying classes researched notable French events, artistic contributions, and people. There are, for example, more than 250 notable mathematicians of French heritage. Students also competed in an “Eiffel Tower” cookie decorating competition. From Left, Sarah Copeland, Oliver Paynter, and Andrea Ragot pose with their sweet recreations of the Eiffel Tower.
