Wrapping Up Beethoven For The Millennium

DANBURY — The final recital in the series of six called “Beethoven Piano Sonatas for the Millennium,” presented by the Danbury Music Centre throughout the year 2000, will be performed on Saturday, November 18, at 3 pm. Diane Spencer, a Redding resident, will perform piano sonatas including Sonata No. 2, Sonata No. 18, Sonata No. 27 and Sonata No. 32 in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall at 256 Main Street in Danbury.

Ms Spencer’s numerous performance credits include solo appearances at the Bruno Walter Auditorium in Lincoln Center and at Donnel Library in New York City as well as chamber music concerts with the Alexander String Quartet at Columbia University.

She has also given solo performances at the Aspen Festival, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Walter Ford Hall in Ithaca, N.Y., and Evans Hall in Portland, Ore., as well as the previous five performances in the Danbury “Beethoven” series.

She made her performing debut at age 14 with Portland (Ore.) Symphony, and her recording debut two years later. Since moving to this area, Ms Spencer has been a frequent guest artist at many local churches, libraries and recital series.

A reception will be held after the recital for those wishing to meet the artist. Admission to the recital and its reception is free. For further information call 748-1716.
