Walter A. Bishop

Walter A. Bishop, 86, of Fairfield, a retired vice president with National Distillers, and formerly with the Bridgeport Brass Company, died November 9 at the Caroloton Chronic Convalescent Hospital.

He was the father of Richard Bishop of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Bishop had been a Fairfield resident for the past 39 years. He was a graduate of the Bridgeport Engineering Institute and New York University. He was a former member of the Patterson Club in Fairfield and the Bridgeport Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Case) Bishop of Fairfield; two other children, Deborah Passeck of the Southport section of Fairfield, and W. Robert Bishop of New Jersey; a brother, F. Howard Bishop of Trumbull; a sister, Marilyn Bishop of New York; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on November 13 in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and in St Pius X Church, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
