*MOPPIN’ SAUCE has another return-to-its-roots show this month. The 70s cover band, Afros and all, returns to The Fireside Inn for Thanksgiving eve, Wednesday, November 22. I don’t have a showtime, but figure around 9:45/10 pm. The inn, at 123 Main Street South/Route 25, can be contacted at 426-7001 for details.

*The Anger Management Tour still has tickets available for its Connecticut stop, but they are apparently going fast. The tour will be at Hartford Civic Center on Saturday, December 9, featuring GODSMACK, LIMP BIZKIT, DMX and SINISSTAR.

*The previous weekend, The Webster Theatre will host its Bound Hartford Winter Ball, featuring Metropolis Records recording artists VELVET ACID CHRIST, HOUJOBB and DIN_FIVE in their only New England appearance. Also providing music will be DJs Cypher (from the regular Bound events at The Webster Underground and Dark Nation Radio), Richard (Hellraver Productions of New York and Dark Carnival of Connecticut), Damzelfly (another Bound regular) and Darcangel (The Haven, Massachusetts).

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; they can be purchased online at www.tickets.com or in person at and LaSalle Music or Strawberries Music & Video store. The show is open to all those age 18 and over, with patrons needing to be 21 and possessiong a legal ID to purchase alcohol.

*After you get to next week’s Moppin’ Sauce show and then work your way through the turkey and trimmings, NRBQ will be at Toad’s Place in New Haven for its 10th Annual Thanksgiving Show. The band will be at 300 York Street on Friday, November 24. Paradise Vendors, Lambbone and The Providers all have opening sets.

SWEETER THAN WINE has a new show on the Toad’s Place calendar. The band will be playing on Thursday, December 7; tickets are $7.50 in advance, $9 at the door. Also returning to the New Haven club is MIGHTY PURPLE, on Thursday, December 28, for an all ages show.

*The good news is, CPTV is going to be broadcasting a concert by STING later this month. The bad new is, it’ll be during one of the station’s membership campaigns — which means long commercial breaks and endless pleas for donations.

If you can manage you way around the advertising, however, Sting — Brand New Day, Live at Universal Amphitheatre just may be a good show, a good recap for anyone who caught either or both of Sting’s two shows in the state this past year or a gentle way of living vicariously for those dopes (like me…) who actually missed both concerts. Brand New Day, Live… will air on Wednesday, November 29, at 10 pm, and the show contains material from the musician’s latest album, Brand New Day, alongside material dating back to Sting’s days with THE POLICE.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
