GIRLS F DIVISION

 

TORNADOES 3, SCREAMING NIGHTMARES 0: The Tornadoes finished the fall season undefeated after a 3-0 blanking of the Screaming Nightmares. In the most exciting contest of the year, Stephanie Sanchez, playing a wing position, scored the first goal off a perfectly-played hard cross by Kate Bowen. Emma Rodrigues fought her way through traffic and found the net for the second goal and Bowen completed the scoring attack off an assist from a determined Ally Modzelewski. Shane Hindes, Erica Green, Isabel Gleason and Alina Schwartz all played well on defense for the Nighthmares.

LIGHTNING 2, HURRICANES 0: Ellen Tabler and Taylor Smith scored the goals that lifted the Lightning to the win. Jamie Keating, Michelle Salem and Sara Bernick all played well on offense while Hannah Basch-Gould, Kara Brown and Samantha Wray led the defense. Paige Woodhouse was solid in the nets. For the Hurricanes, Caroline Lawrence and Alexandra Grant played well on offense while Hannah Deflumeri and Danielle Villa powered the defense.

 

GIRLS U10 TRAVEL

 

HURRICANES 4, BROOKFIELD (B) 0: The Hurricanes closed out an undefeated fall season in style with their fifth shutout.  With goalie Emily DeMarco, making a spectacular save on a penalty kick, the defense held up their part of the deal.  That defense consisted of Molly “Hollywood” Curry, Cassie David, Genna Scheuerell, Katie Serock, along with Kelley Sullivan, Hannah Tenenbaum, Colleen Thornberg and Kristine Zadrovitz. The offense was powered by playmaker Tania Domingos, whose three assists led to scores by Megan Hansen, Nora Lynn Shimko and Emily Weber. Haley Keane scored the final goal to complete the victory.

BOYS U10 TRAVEL

 

NEWTOWN 2, BROOKFIELD 1: Kurt Nacewicz scored the first goal for Newtown. Jason Kostecki, coming off a great corner kick from Andrew Meisel scored the winning goal. Ethan Carotti, Andrew Domingos and John Gouveia played very well in midfield. Mickey Fay, Ryan Goodridge and Daniel Kowarick dominated the front line play.

BOYS U11 TRAVEL

 

VIPERS 2, BROOKFIELD 1: The Vipers finished the fall season at 7-1-1 and had a shot at a share of first place in the division. Justin Miller scored a pair of goals to lead the Vipers to the win over Brookfield. Danny Smith was solid in goal and defenders Kevin Davies, Tony Gallucci, and sweeper Mat DeBrantes played very well. Drew Taylor, Paul Andras, Max Hoagland and Kevin Troy supported the offense.

BUNKER HILL 4, NAVIGATORS 1: Bunker Hill scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to put this one away. Rachel Maley, Gabby Nastri and Jackie Schulz led the offense while Katie Kirrane scored the lone goal. Sammy Ciaccia led the defense with the help of Julie Landin, Christie Attanasio and Jackie Petrasanta. Bethany Morin was solid in goal.

GIRLS U12 TRAVEL

 

SOUTHBURY 2, NITROS 0: Despite the loss, the Nitros finished their season with a winning 5-3-1 record in the Northwest Division. In fact, with all three losses coming in close games, and with some overpowering wins of their own, the Nitros actually outscored their league opponents, 27-7, during the Fall campaign! In the Southbury game, Tyler Nicoll, Rachel Eastman and Heather Young sparked the offense, while Kristene Salbu, Jennifer Blauvelt and Sarah Wilson controlled the midfield and defense.

GIRLS U14 TRAVEL

 

KNOCKOUTS 3, SOUTHBURY 2: Another windy day found the Knockouts playing a much improved Southbury team. Solid defense by Stacy Sphunt, Kelly Corrigan, and Megan Regnery along with goals by Kristen Davis, Caitlyn Kuhn, and Katie O’Connor insured Newtown the win. Christina Wolf and Quincey Blanchard had good games on the field. This was the last league game of the season for the Knockouts, who will finish third in their division.
