Childrenâs Programs
Thanksgiving Craft: Join Marie Walker in making a fun Thanksgiving craft for your holiday table on Saturday, November 18, from 11 am to noon in the childrenâs department. This project is suitable for children ages six and up. There is a $2 supply fee which is due at the time of registration.          Â
Mother/Daughter Book Club: The C.H. Booth Library is pleased to offer a series of Mother/Daughter book discussions for girls in grades 3-4. The fourth and final book in the series is In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson, by Bette Lord.
Multiple copies of the book are available in the childrenâs department. The discussion will take place on Wednesday, November 29, at 7 pm in the library meeting room. Note that the date has been changed for the final discussion due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. This program is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council and the Friends of the Library. Pat Miniter, a 31 year veteran of New Haven school system, will lead the discussions. A signup sheet is available in the childrenâs department. Space is limited to 25 mother/daughter pairs.
Author! Author! Two well known and very popular childrenâs authors will be visiting the C.H. Booth Library in December. Steven Kellogg will be signing copies of his new book and some old favorites on Sunday, December 3, from 1-3 pm in the childrenâs program room. On December 10, Nancy Carlstrom, author of the popular Jesse Bear series and dozens of other titles, will present her program, âJessse Bear Lives in Alaska,â from 2-3 pm in the community room.
Ms Carlstrom will have several of her titles about Alaska available for signing immediately following the program.
Adult Programs
 Educational Workshop Series: The Family Counseling Center will be continuing their workshop series on Tuesday, November 21, at 7 pm. This month the topic will be âFamily Caregivers â Making Sure to Take Care of the Caregiver,â a real concern as we head into this busy holiday season.
College Planning Seminar: Brian Connolly will be giving a College Planning Seminar on Tuesday, November 28, from 7-9 pm. Come learn some useful strategies in preparation for this exciting but potentially stressful time.
Festival of Trees: The Family Lifeâs Festival of Trees will be returning to the library on Sunday, December 3, during regular library hours.
Internet Classes: Bob Brand will be conducting an Internet class for beginners on Saturday, December 9, and an intermediate class on Saturday, December 16. Class will begin at 10 am in the meeting room. Please register for these classes at the main circulation desk or by calling the library at 426-4533. There is a $10 registration fee for the intermediate class. The beginnerâs class is free of charge.
