To the Editor:

On Veterans Day, Head O Meadow School, in Newtown had a breakfast for veterans.  It started with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Every student knew the words, because they say it every day.  You could see the smiles on everyone's face as they joined in.  The cafeteria was decorated in red, white and blue.  Everyone was treated to breakfast.

We then saw a slide show of pictures of the veterans in their uniforms.  The fourth grade sang a medley of patriotic songs and every veteran introduced himself/herself and stated their rank and where they served.

Instead of getting the day off, the students were shown why we celebrate Veteran's Day and who Veterans are.

Thanks to  the PTO, students and staff  for a very “patriotic” salute to the veteran's.
