In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Gone with the Wind, the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission will present a Red Carpet Event and Film Screening on Sunday, November 30, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.

Patrons are encouraged to wear their Oscar best to strut the red carpet beginning at 1 pm. Professional photos will be taken by Marleen Cafarelli of Photo Art Works.  The movie screening will begin by 1:30, and will include a free popcorn, as well as special refreshments offered at intermission.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students. Early online registration, at bit.ly/GWTWnewtown, will assure premium seating. Seats will otherwise be filled through general admission.

There are opportunities for the public to also participate in this event. Do you have an automobile from the 1930s to show off for the event?  Want to dress in Civil War era attire? Do you resemble a celebrity from 1939? Email Sunday Cinema Series Coordinator Jen Rogers at SundayCinemaSeries@gmail.com to be included in the “red carpet” festivities.

The screening of Gone with the Wind is being sponsored by HK Consulting Group. Free popcorn is being sponsored by Mitchell Architectural Group, P.C.

All proceeds and donations benefit the Edmond Town Hall Theater improvements.

The series will conclude in December, with a Sunday presentation currently scheduled to include Babes in Arms starring Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney and At the Circus starring the Marx Brothers.

Visit Facebook.com/SundayCinemaSeries or www.NewtownArtsCommission.org for additional information.

Organizers are hoping that not only will a large crowd attend the November 23 Sunday Cinema Series screening of Gone With The Wind, but that ticket holders will also get into the spirit of the afternoon by dressing for a Hollywood movie premiere.
