Eleven local painters have coordinated efforts to put together the newest exhibition for C.H. Booth Library. Artist and teacher Claudia Mitchell is being joined by students and painters Robyn Dohrenwend, Bambi Engelman, Meg Gioffe, Martha Glynn, Margaret Hull, Kyra Middeleer, Maureen Rohmer, Michelle Rosenthal, Arlene Spoonfeather and Marianne Zelno for âHereâs To Painting!â
Childrenâs Programs
*Thanksgiving Craft Workshop: Marie Walker will conduct a Thanksgiving craft workshop on Thursday, November 19, at 4 pm, for ages 6 and up. Learn how to make a turkey breadbasket.
Register at the childrenâs circulation desk. A $5 material fee is due upon registration.
*Holiday Sing Along with Francine Wheeler: Professional singer, music educator and Newtown resident Francine Wheeler will lead children and their parents in a Holiday Sing Along on Thursday, December 10, at 10 am, in the meeting room.
The program is recommended for ages 2-6, and registration can be done online.
*Gingerbread House Workshop: Our popular gingerbread house workshop will take place on Saturday, December 12, at 2 pm. Each child will take home a personal graham cracker house decorated with royal icing and an assortment of festive candies.
Register in person at the childrenâs circulation desk. A $3 material fee is due upon registration, which needs to be done in person at the childrenâs department desk.
This program is for ages 4-10, and parents must remain in the room with their children for this program.
*The Reluctant Dragon, a puppet show: On Sunday, December 13, at 2 pm, Lionheart Puppet Company will present âThe Reluctant Dragon.â
 What happens when Herold discovers a dragon in the mountains? Can he convince the villagers that he just wants to be friends? Recommended for ages 4 and up, this show is being sponsored by Camp Playland of Redding (CampPlayland.com).

Young Adult Events
Two big events are coming up for âtweens and teens and their familiesâ¦
*Tellabration: This international storytelling festival takes place simultaneously in venues around the world, all during the week before Thanksgiving.
This year, on Friday, November 20, at 7:30 pm, Newtown will be a site for several wonderful professional, amateur and student tellers. Theyâll share stories that will stay with you for a long time.

*The annual Young Writersâ Salon, a showcase of young Newtown authors in grades 6-10 reading their original poetry and short stories, will take place on Sunday afternoon, November 22, at 3.
Readers may sign up online and must submit their works in advance, no later than Monday, November 16. Refreshments will be served in our coffeehouse setting as an admiring audience listens to the array of talented writers.
Adult Programs:
*Book Discussion: The Evening Book Group will meet on Thursday, November 19, at 7:30, to discuss World of Wonders by Robertson Davies.
*Author Talk â Nancy Goldstone: Ms Goldstone will visit the library on Wednesday, November 18, at 7 pm, to discuss her new book, The Lady Queen: The Notorious Reign of Joanna I.
This novel portrays the riveting history of a beautiful queen, a murder, a papal trial⦠and a reign as triumphant as any in the Middle Ages. Please sign up online. Books will be available for purchase.
*Make a Mini Photo Album: Kristen Bazuro will be at the library on Thursday, December 3, from 7 to 8:30 pm, to show us how to make a beautiful keepsake album, perfect for storing those wallet sized school photos and/or for giving as a gift.
There is a $5 supply fee and the class is limited to 12 participants ages 11 and up. Please register online.
*Introduction To Beading: Make a beautiful beaded watchband to accompany a beautiful unleaded pewter watch on Thursday, December 10, from 7 to 9 pm. Artist and jewelry maker Pat Martin will be on hand to teach you how.
An $18 supply fee is due at registration, which should be done soon (online please) because the class is limited to ten adult participants.
