Fourth-Graders Fall in Orange Bowl
Fourth-Graders Fall in Orange Bowl
The Newtown fourth-graders lost 34-18 to Norwalk in the Orange Bowl this past weekend.
Newtownâs defense had a tough day against a tough Norwalk offense.
After falling behind, Newtown bounced back quickly and marched the ball down the field and Josh Dunn took it in for a score behind the blocking of Alex Street, Ethan Tousignant, Andrew Deluca, Doug Carriero, CJ Shambelan, and Owen Walsh.
By the time the whistle blew at the half though Newtown was down 14-6.
On defense, big tackles by Ryan Williams, Daniel Badiola, William Stenz, Ryan Kost, Simon Preston, and Josh Dunn seemed to put the Nighthawks on track. Every time they seemed to have Norwalk pinned, however, Norwalk was able to break it free and get the first down or score. On offense, Nickolas Weiland caught a pass from Kost to set up a second touchdown by Dunn. Newtown moved the ball well behind AJ Salaris, Jake Holman, Chris Faxon, Jacob Duffy, and Jack Carello. The effort by the boys allowed Newtown to march down the field and set up a score by Shambelan.
