NHS Career Center Lists Scholarships
Information and applications for the following scholarships have arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School. Please note that these scholarships are not just for seniors, many are for underclassmen as well. For a complete list of scholarships available, check out the scholarship file in the Career Center. Call Mrs McEvoy at 426-1915 if you have any questions.
Very Important Note: In the Career Center, scholarships are advertised that are received in the mail. A few of the scholarships, usually national ones, request that some money be sent with the application. It is the opinion of the Career Center that money should not be required to apply for scholarships. If, however, students choose to apply for a scholarship that charges a fee, it is strongly suggested that the scholarships be checked out by one of the following organizations:
FTC Consumer Response Center: www.ftc.gov or call (202) FTC-HELP.
National Fraud Information Center: www.fraud.org or call (800) 876-7060.
Better Business Bureau: www.bbb.org or call (703) 276-0100.
This is the only way you can be sure that your money is not being taken by a scholarship scam organization.
