La Leche League To Meet Nov 21

The La Leche League of Newtown will continue its fall series of meetings on Tuesday, November 21, with the topic “Breastfeeding: The Spectrum of Normal.”

The meeting will be held at 10 am in the parlor room on the main floor of the Newtown Congregational Church House offices, 41-A Main Street, behind the Newtown General Store. Park behind the church house or in the Edmond Town Hall parking lot.

One of the most common concerns that a new mother has is whether her baby’s breastfeeding behavior is normal. The program will feature a discussion about the normal range of breastfeeding and how to recognize where a baby falls in the spectrum. Any other concerns that mothers may have also will be discussed.

Attending La Leche League meetings can help women learn about breastfeeding from other nursing mothers. At these monthly meetings, mothers share not only their questions and concerns, but also the benefits and joys of breastfeeding. Babies and toddlers are welcome, and mothers-to-be are especially encouraged to attend.

A toddler meeting is scheduled for the following Tuesday, November 28. These meetings are geared toward the needs of mothers with older nursing babies and toddlers, and are held in members’ homes.

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. All women interested in breastfeeding are welcome to attend the monthly group meetings or to call a leader for breastfeeding help.
