Who Was Elected Governor?
Who Was Elected Governor?
To the Editor:
Secretary of the State, Susan Bysiewicz says the official winner of Connecticutâs gubernatorial election is Dannel Malloy. But what about the thousands of registered voters from Bridgeport who were turned away because of a lack of ballots? Even after Xeroxing ballots and extending voting hours, most prospective voters gave up and would not go back to vote. They were disappointed, didnât go back, and their votesâ¦we will never know. How about the âbag of ballots: that were âfoundâ a day later. As Mayberryâs Gomer Pyle would say, âSurprise, surprise, surprise!â
I would like to offer the first piece of legislation that should be enacted, when the Connecticut General Assembly convenes in January. âHouse Bill 001 The Secretary of State shall mandate and ensure that each city and town in Connecticut, through the town clerk or registrar of voterâs office, shall print at least one voting ballot for each registered voter, plus a minimum of an additional ten percent more ballots, for every election, primary, and special elections, whether the election if federal, state, municipal or any combination thereof. The cost of such printed shall be borne by the municipalities.â
Before our Attorney General Richard Blumenthal leaves Connecticut to go to Washington, he should investigate this âBridgeport voting crisis.â Then add those proper results with the rest of the state, to see who really should be our governor. Then, and only then, will we really know if Dan Malloy or Tom Foley is the rightful winner of the 2010 Connecticut gubernatorial election. Letâs hope that the attorney general will take up this case. If he does, it could be Dick Blumenthalâs finest hour!
