Girl Scouts Slate Annual Book Sale And Coat Drive

Newtown Girl Scouts will host their 5th Annual Book Sale and Coat Drive on Saturday, November 13, at Newtown United Methodist Church’s Rauner Hall, from 9 am until 4 pm.

Gently used books for children and adults will be available for sale, ranging in cost from 25 cents to a dollar, with the proceeds benefiting the Newtown Girl Scout Service Unit. At previous Girl Scout book sales, Girl Scout families donated thousands of books to the sale. Books not sold during the sale will be donated to area charities.

The Girl Scouts, in conjunction with the Newtown United Methodist Church Outreach Committee, is also collecting gently used coats, hats, gloves, and mittens of all sizes, to donate to the Interfaith AIDS Ministry, Interfaith Nursery, and Covenant House. Last year, more than 400 coats were distributed to those in need in the greater Danbury area.
