*Newtown based THE JAY WILLIE BAND will be performing at Hot Shots Grille on Fridays, November 19 and December 10. Shows will get going around 9:30, and the band — Jay Willie on guitar and vocals, Bob Callahan on guitar and vocals, Dave Polley on bass guitar, and Ron Stahl on drums — will be playing plenty of classic rock and blues.

Meanwhile, Jay’s second band, THE JAY WILLIE BLUES BAND, is celebrating the successful release in Europe and Australasia of The Reel Deal, an album that was released by The Blues Boulevard on November 1. The band who performs on this album includes Jay on guitar, vocals, slide guitar and harmonica, and Bob Callahan on guitar and vocals, along with former Johnny Winter drummer Bobby T Torello on drums and vocals, and featured artist Tommy Shannon on bass guitar. Shannon is not a regular member of the band, but was able to get performance time with The JW Blues Band for this project.

Currently The Reel Deal is being sold at Play.com UK, Zawi.com UK, ASDA Entertainment UK, Play-ground Music Denmark and others. The good news is, the album is scheduled to have its North American release in February, when it will be offered under the Music Avenue Group of labels on the Blues Boulevard Label.

Meanwhile, enjoy all the music Jay Willie and his band can offer locally. In addition to the two shows already mentioned at Hot Shots (130 Mount Pleasant Road, at Route 25), The Jay Willie Band is also on the calendar for a January 29 show at The One-Eyed Pig, 71 Main Street South in Newtown.

*Newtown musician JOE PROC has three events lined up next week, beginning with hosting duties for an acoustic open mic jam at The One-Eyed Pig in Newtown, with OFF THE HOOK bandmate Abu joining him from 9 pm until midnight.

On Friday, November 19, OFF THE HOOK (with third member Steve Clark) will be at Redding Roadhouse, starting at 9:30. Jolie will be a special guest that evening.

And then on Sunday, November 21, WIPED OUT, the band sponsored by Joe filled with younger musicians, will be at My Place Restaurant from 4 to 8 pm.

*Iconic American rock band LYNYRD SKYNYRD will take the stage to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods on Friday, December 31, at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $75, $85 and $110, and will be on sale Friday, November 12, at 10 am.

Tickets may be purchased online at MGMatFoxwoods.com, by calling the MGM Grand Box Office at 1-866-646-0609, in person at the MGM Grand’s box office over in Mashantucket, and through TicketMaster.

*Meanwhile, the same week BON JOVI’s Greatest Hits collection is released, tickets for the equally iconic band will be going on sale for a show at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, March 4. Hope you have a big wallet for this one. Tickets for this show start at $135, and then jump to $210, and they will be available Friday, November 12, also beginning at 10.

*I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since the release of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” but it’s true. CYNDI LAUPER, that Grammy Award winning quintessential girl having fun, will bring her Memphis Blues Tour with opening act The Ferocious Few to the Palace Theater in Waterbury on Sunday, December 12, at 7:30 pm.

Tickets can be purchased by phone at 203-346-2000, online at www.PalaceTheaterCT.org, or in person at the Palace Theater Box Office, 100 East Main Street in Waterbury.

*Unfortunately there is also a concert cancellation this week: ARETHA FRANKLIN, at the insistence of her doctor, has been forced to cancel her November 20 performance at The MGM Grand Theater due to medical reasons. Patrons who bought tickets to that show through the theater Grand or Ticketmaster with a credit card should have been automatically credited by now (this was supposed to have happened within 48 hours of the announcement, which came out November 5).

If you have questions, contact the MGM Grand Box Office at 866-646-0609.

*KENNY CHESNEY took a break from the road earlier this year to record his new album Hemingway’s Whiskey. When it was released last month the album entered the Billboard 200 Chart at #1 — his sixth album to achieve that feat.

The first leg of the tour to support that album will be at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, and tickets will be on sale Friday, November 19, at 10 am. Tickets are $95 and $125, and will be available through TicketaMaster and the casino’s box office. Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker will open.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
