Busy Schedule Leads Marching Nighthawks To Final Competition
The Newtown Nighthawks Marching Band and Color Guard had a busy schedule for the past two weeks. On Saturday, October 30, the band and guard competed first at Bunnell High School in Stratford, winning first place. A few hours later, the band and guard participated in a very large evening competition at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, earning third place.
On the weekend of November 5 through 7, the band and guard traveled to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the USSBA National Championship at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. About 100 talented bands from all the eastern United States competed. In Class V, Newtown earned 11th place with a score of 93.250, just five points behind first place.
Newtownâs final competition, the local Musical Arts Conference championship, takes place at Bridgeportâs Kennedy Stadium this Saturday, November 13, with Newtown performing at 8:45 pm.
