Occupation: I have been the business and community development officer at the Savings Bank of Danbury for three and a half years. Prior to this, I worked for 11 years for the nonprofit agencies United Way and American Cancer Society. I earned a bachelor’s of arts in history at Eastern Connecticut State University. I did my senior internship at Mystic Seaport. It was a wonderful experience.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 16 years. Prior to this, I lived in Norwalk.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: It has to be the development and building that’s been going on.

Family: My husband, Gary, and I have been married for 18 years. He was a selectman of Newtown for eight years.

Pets: We have two cats, Spooky, 16, who we got when we first moved into Newtown, and Shadow, eight.

Hobbies: Reading and snow skiing.

Favorite Books and Authors: My favorite authors are John Steinbeck and Jan Karon.

Favorite TV Show: West Wing and ER.

Organizations: I am a member of the United Way Campaign Cabinet, CitiCenter Board of Commissioners, a member of the boards of Danbury Music Center and First Night Danbury, and co-chair of the Women’s Center Quarter Century Campaign. I also did the publicity for the Family Counseling Center’s Holiday House Tour for two years.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: It would have to be attending the Family Counseling Center’s Holiday House Tour. One particular year, there had been a dusting of snow, and it was such an enchanting experience, walking down Main Street, touring the houses, library, and Town Hall. I look forward to it every year. It puts me in the holiday spirit.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Each year we take a ski trip out west and try a new resort every year. It is a favorite pastime of ours. We might research a ski area, see one advertised in a magazine, or hear about one through word-of-mouth. San Francisco is a wonderful vacation spot. We enjoyed that a lot.

Personal Philosophy: I took this from Life’s Little Instruction Book – Make it a habit to do nice things for someone who may never find out.
