Reaction To President-Elect Mirrors Reactions Of 2008... Or Not
by Brendan Duffy
To the Editor:
From The Wall Street Journal, November 10: "Colleges across the country offered student 'cry-ins,' counseling sessions and even canceled classes to help them deal with a feeling of shock the morning after Donald Trump's presidential victory."
This might be surprising news if it didn't precisely mirror the reaction to Barack Obama's election eight years ago… when colleges and universities nationwide rushed to counsel and console students following the "shock" of learning an America-hating Communist had been elected President and would soon swindle and scam the United States while denigrating the Office of the President.
But of course, this never happened… Obama's election was hailed as the second coming and the trumpets blared and the angels sang… and loudest of all, the academics touted the wisdom of the electorate in championing the Savior of our country who would "transform America"… as we commenced eight years of this country's steepest spiral into financial debt, racial turmoil, foreign policy disasters and ridicule.
A word to the college and university administrations across this great country: You are pathetic… just an embarrassing, pitiful mess. Suck it up… have some pride and teach your students to do the same. Earn the exorbitant fees you charge for the progressively devalued product you peddle. You do your students and their parents no service by pandering to this ludicrous agenda of multiculturalism, globalism, and secular permissiveness. The irony of your existence is that you preach in security and comfort constructed upon the blood, sweat, and toil of a culture you want destroyed.
Tuesday's election results will slow down the destruction of this country. With some luck, it might stop it for a generation. You in academia could benefit from attempting to truly understand why it happened and what the electorate is really saying.
