Anthony Persico
Anthony Persico, 90, a resident of Newtown/Sandy Hook, previously of Darien, died peacefully November 9, with family by his side. He was born April 25, 1924, to Italian immigrants Mary Russo and Arthur Persico of Darien.
During his youth he was a resident of Southbury Training School. He worked for Howard Johnson’s in Darien before his retirement.
He enjoyed baseball, basketball, puzzles, horseshoes, being with family, and playing Christmas songs on the harmonica. He was proud to wear his favorite NY Giants and Yankees sweatshirts and hats. He was involved in Ability Beyond Disability and lived at Lockwood Lodge for several years, where he had many wonderful friends. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
One brother, Arthur, and several nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and grandnephews, survive Mr Persico. His sister, Marion, and brother, Louis, predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 13, at 10:30 am, in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. There are no calling hours.
