Truck Vs Fence
Motorist German Rodriguez, 23, of Bridgeport was driving a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck southward on Toddy Hill Road about 2 pm October 29, when the vehicle slid to the right on the snow-covered pavement, striking a wooden fence positioned at 2 Surrey Trail, police report.
Rodriguez was not injured. Police said they gave Rodriguez an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
Weapon/Drugs
Police report that at about 3:45 pm on November 3, William A. Brusca, Jr, 44, of 27 Forest Drive drove to the police station to lodge a complaint regarding a harassment issue.
After his arrival, but before exiting his vehicle, Brusca spoke to police in the police station parking lot, police added.
Police said they saw a rifle positioned on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, which they later determined to be a loaded firearm.
Police said they charged Brusca with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brusca, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges in court, is free on $10,000 bail and is next scheduled for a November 21 court appearance.
Theft/Drugs
Police said that the store security staff at the Big Y supermarket at 6 Queen Street saw Jason Lamonte, 19, of 67 Osborn Hill Road allegedly take a can of Monster-brand energy drink and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide at the store and then attempt to leave the premises without paying for the items at about noon on November 4.
Police said they were called to the scene to investigate and found Lamonte in possession of a jar of synthetic marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.
Police then charged Lamonte with sixth-degree larceny, possession of synthetic marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lamonte was released on $100 bail for a November 17 court appearance.
Dodgingtown Crash
At about 11:10 am on November 2, motorist Billy Edwards, 57, of Meriden was driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on Dodgingtown Road, near Cemetery Road, and then slowed for traffic conditions, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by motorist Brooks Baldwin, 44, of Bethel, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave Baldwin a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Church Hill Road
Motorist Evelyn Hufziger, 51, of 20 Marlin Road was driving a 2007 Saturn Outlook SUV westward on Church Hill Road, near the Exit 10 interchange for Interstate 84, about 12:37 pm on November 5, and then stopped for traffic conditions, after which westbound motorist Lisa Schack, 45, of 90 Engleside Terrace, who was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, stopped behind the Saturn, police said.
Schackâs foot then inadvertently lifted off the Chryslerâs brake pedal and the minivan rolled forward, striking the rear end of the Saturn, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Schack for following too closely.
Buick Vs Tree
Police report that motorist Kyle McCarthy, 18, of 12 Elana Lane was driving a 2002 Buick Century sedan on Berkshire Road, near its four-way intersection with Bennetts Bridge Road and Grays Plain Road, about 3:40 pm on November 5, when the auto went off the roadway and struck a tree.
Volunteer ambulance corps members transported McCarthy to Danbury Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, police said. The accident is under investigation. Police ask anyone with information on the accident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Sugar Street
Motorist Dana Protomastro, 46, of 11 Blancheâs Walk, who was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV-4 SUV westward on Sugar Street, east of its intersection with Rock Ridge Road, about 4:30 pm November 6, encountered a deer that had run out of the woods and onto the road, police report. The Toyota and the deer collided. Protomastro was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Honda Vs Saturn
About 11:56 am on November 1 near 66 Church Hill Road, motorist Jill Shepard, 29, of 25 Cricket Trail, who was driving a 1998 Honda Civic sedan, struck the rear end of a 2008 Saturn Vue SUV driven by Patricia Woessner, 53, of 25 Clearview Drive, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Shepard for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Town Snowplow
Midday on October 30, a town-owned 2004 Ford F-550 truck on snowplow duty, which was driven by Howard Sears, 41, of Southbury, was backing up in the area of Skytop Drive and Paugussett Road when it struck the front end of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler SUV driven by Anthony Victor Macri II, 29, of 19 Evergreen Road, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Sears for unsafe backing.
Intersection
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main Street, Meadowbrook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 10 pm on November 4.
Motorist Daron Cochran of Bridgeport was driving a 2010 Honda Accord sedan northward on South Main Street and was approaching a flashing yellow signal light at the four-way intersection, police said. At that time, motorist Lauren Williams, 17, of Monroe, who was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan westward on Botsford Hill Road, stopped at a flashing red signal at the intersection, police said.
The minivan then entered the intersection, colliding with the sedan as the sedan was traveling through the intersection, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Williams for failure to grant the right of way.

Blue Spruce
Motorist Matthew Fitzpatrick, 26, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1992 Saab 900 sedan northward on Blue Spruce Drive about 11:35 pm on October 30, went off the roadâs southbound shoulder and struck some curbing, police said.
Fitzpatrick was not injured. Police said they verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.
Mt Pleasant Sideswipe
Police report that a sideswipe accident occurred on a snow-covered Mt Pleasant Road, near Johnnycake Lane, about 1:13 pm on October 29.
A 58-year-old Newtown man was driving a 2002 Ford sedan, as a gray pickup truck was approaching from the opposite direction, police said.
Both vehicles went out of control and had a sideswipe collision, police said.
The Fordâs driver, who was not injured, stopped in a safe area and called police, but the pickup truck driver left the area, police said. The pickup truck likely has damage to its left, rear corner, police said.
Police took no enforcement.
South Main Crash
Motorist Kevin Buchanan, Jr, 27, of Shelton, who was driving a Ford F-350 van southward on South Main Street about 9:20 am on October 31, attempted to make a right turn onto Elm Drive at its southern intersection with South Main Street, police said.
Southbound motorist Maureen Wright, 59, of Redding, who was driving a 2011 Volvo S-40 sedan behind the Ford, attempted to pass the Ford on the right, resulting in a collision, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Wright an infraction for passing on the right.
Rear-Ender
Motorist Jeferson Coelho Martins, 21, of Old Saybrook, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo sedan westward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Zoar Road at about 2:43 pm on October 30, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by westbound motorist Kristen Itzla, 19, of Carmel, N.Y., who was driving a 1995 Geo Prizm sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Itzla received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police. Police said they issued Martins an infraction for driving without a license.
Toyota Vs Mercury
About 12:10 pm on October 29, motorist Steven Tracey, 55, of 13 Hawthorne Hill Road, who was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV-4 SUV northward on Saw Mill Road, stopped at a stop sign before attempting a left turn onto Mt Pleasant Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Barbara Schutt-Falls, 47, of New Milford was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable sedan westward on Mt Pleasant Road, police said.
The Toyota then attempted to make the turn, but collided with the Mercury, police said. There were no injuries. Police said Tracey received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
Trespassing Charge
About 2:30 pm on November 1, police received a complaint from a business at 4 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook Center, so they investigated.
Police said that later that day, they issued Steve Kokoska, 47, of 32 Swamp Road an infraction for simple trespassing for allegedly having entered that closed business without the permission of its owner.
I-84 Accident
About 6:25 pm on November 4, motorist Peter Darbisi, 65, of 4 Great Ring Road was driving a 2009 Audi A-4 in the center lane of three lanes on eastbound Interstate 84, near the Tunnel Road overpass, state police said.
At that time, trucker Jeffrey Haslam, 49, no address given, was driving a 2001 Peterbilt truck there, which was merging from the right lane to the center lane, state police said.
The two vehicles then made contact, according to state police. There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Interstate Sideswipe
State police said that a 45-year-old Sandy Hook man was driving a 2002 Volvo V-70 XC in the center lane of three lanes on Interstate 84 near Exit 10 at about 7:30 pm November 3, when an unknown vehicle that was traveling in the left lane swerved and sideswiped the Volvo. The unknown vehicle did not stop after the crash, state police report. State police said the Volvo driver was not injured.
Icy Conditions
State police said motorist Theresa Carlisle, 51, of 28 Ridge Road was driving a 2004 Jeep SUV on westbound Interstate-84âs Exit 11 off-ramp during icy conditions at about 10:30 pm on October 30, when while negotiating a curve on the ramp she lost control of the Jeep, struck some metal-beam guardrailing along the left road shoulder and then rolled over, landing in the middle of the ramp.
Carlisle was outside of the Jeep and waiting for state police to arrive at the accident scene when motorist Craig Mittleman, 48, of 25 Equestrian Ridge Road, who was driving a 2009 GMC Yukon SUV, attempted to slow down on the ramp but lost control of the GMC due to icy conditions and struck the Jeep, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Carlisle received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, David Hyde, 19, of 3 Owl Ridge Lane went to the police station on the night of November 7 and was charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening, according to police.
The two charges stem from an August 22 incident, police said. After processing, police released Hyde on a written promise to appear in court on November 23.
DUI Arrest
Newtown police report that they received a call from Brookfield police about 5:30 pm on November 6, informing them that Brookfield police had stopped a motorist who had just been involved in an accident with another motorist on Hawleyville Road in Hawleyville.
Newtown police said their investigation showed that motorist William Ruschmeyer, 52, of Brookfield had sideswiped a sedan driven by a female motorist, after which Ruschmeyer drove away from the scene. The woman motorist followed Ruschmeyerâs vehicle into Brookfield and called Brookfield police, Newtown police said.
Brookfield police then stopped Ruschmeyer at the intersection of Sand Cut Road and Grayâs Bridge Road in Brookfield, after which they called Newtown police.
Newtown police went to Brookfield to investigate the case and charged Ruschmeyer with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and improper passing.
After processing the arrest, Newtown police released Ruschmeyer on $400 bail for a November 22 court appearance.
Hawleyville Crash
At about 8:48 am on November 2, motorist Scott Sagona, 17, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2006 Honda sedan, made a right turn on a red traffic signal at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Mt Pleasant Road, striking the side of a 1999 Toyota Camry sedan driven by Jessica Wargo, 23, of Southbury who was traveling through that intersection on a green signal, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave Sagona a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Butterfield Road
About 11:38 am on November 3, a town-owned 2002 Caterpillar backhoe driven by Jerry Dachenhausen, 30, of Oxford was traveling in front of 69 Butterfield Road, when the Caterpillar made contact with a 2011 International propane tanker truck driven by Marc Dassonville, 54, of Middlebury, which was parked along the road facing in the wrong direction, police said. The parked truck hindered visibility and reduced the available road width, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Dassonville for improper parking.
Trespassing Incident
Police said they received a report about noon on October 28 that Alexa Larsen, 44, of 123 Lakeview Terrace had entered Newtown Youth Academy at 4 Primrose Street, a facility that she had been banned from entering in June.
Larsen left the academy before police arrived, but police then located her driving a vehicle on Lakeview Terrace. Police said that after stopping the vehicle and investigating, they charged Larsen with first-degree criminal trespassing and with driving an unregistered vehicle.
Police released Larsen on a written promise to appear in court on November 15.
Jewelry Theft
Police report that sometime between 11:45 am and 5:50 pm on November 7, someone burglarized a house on Obtuse Road and stole more than $12,000 worth of jewelry from the premises. Obtuse Road extends from Hawleyville Road, near the Brookfield town line.
