Building an audience and recognition in the community before venturing into fully mounted productions, SKTC currently offers staged readings of contemporary classics and new works with professional casts. Each evening includes a talk-back with the company, coffee and dessert by Andreaâs Pastry Shop of Newtown. All shows are on Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 per show when purchased in advance; $30 at the door. As a special incentive, Artistic Director is offering a limited time a 40 percent discount on full-season subscriptions: $90 for all six shows.
The 2011-12 season will open on November 19 with Holiday Memories by Truman Capote.
A feel-good holiday reminiscence by the author of one of the most harrowing crime books of all time, In Cold Blood, Truman Capote is well-known for writing poignant fiction and short stories, like Breakfast at Tiffanyâs. His autobiographical short stories, A Thanksgiving Memory and A Christmas Memory, recall Capote as an orphaned youth in the rural South during the 1930s living with a slightly dotty but loving âcousin.â
A television version of A Christmas Memory, starring Geraldine Page, won an Emmy Award when it aired in 1966.
The Stray Kats performance will stars Mark Basile, Florence Phillips and Katie Sparer as the young Truman.
Upcoming readings will include  Butcherâs Cabinâ by Kent R. Brown on January 14, an SKTC New Work by the award-winning playwright; Edward Albeeâs Seascape on February 25; another new work, By The Heirs of St Patrick by Steve Bellwood, on March 10; followed by Richard Dresserâs Wonderful World on April 28; and 1965 Tony Award winner The Subject Was Roses on May 12.
