Nelson Henry Fries

Machine Shop Superintendent For

Pratt & Whitney

Nelson Henry Fries, 90, of Marlborough, beloved husband of Eleanor (Floyd) Fries, died November 6, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 18, 1920, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Mary (Heim) and Henry N. Fries.

Besides his wife, two children, Mark Fries, and his wife Nancy Taylor, of Sandy Hook, and Craig Fries, and his fiancé Diana Noel, of East Hartford; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren survive Mr Fries.

He was a member of the Marlborough Congregational Church, a past member of the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Masons. He retired from Pratt & Whitney after serving 32 years as a machine shop superintendent. Mr Fries was an athlete who enjoyed bowling, hockey, baseball, boxing, and golf. He was one of the developers of the Blackledge Country Club in Hebron.

He loved spending winters in Tequesta, Fla., but found true comfort in his home on Marlborough Lake.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, November 13, from 2 until 4 pm, at the Blackledge Country Club, West Street, in Hebron.
