Mediterranean Magic Dinner Show: A Special Event On Saturday Night

Belly dancing sensation Adina and her entourage, Rakshanda Rya, will return by popular demand for “Mediterranean Magic,” a communitywide event at Congregation Adath Israel, 115 Huntingtown Road, on Saturday, November 12. The public is invited to enjoy the show at 8 pm, preceded either by a Middle Eastern dinner at 6 or a light snack at 7:15.

“My first performance with Rakshanda Rya at Adath Israel was very well received and the girls and I are very excited about our upcoming performance,” said Adina. The performer studied with master belly dance instructors in New York City and is today a veteran performer and popular belly dance instructor.

“Last year Adina and Rakshanda Rya put on a superb show that everybody has been raving about ever since. It only made sense to keep it going,” said Shaul Praver, rabbi of the congregation.

“When Adina and the girls hit the dance floor, it takes only a few moments for the audience to realize what superb dancers they are — they put their hearts and souls into their art,” said Rita Frost, co-chairperson and creator of this event.

“It’s a rare event,” continued Bonnie Goldstein, event co-chairperson. “People come not only from all points of Connecticut, but also New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The silent auction is also a big part of the evening because of the high value of the goods and services offered at excellent prices.”

Among the silent auction items to be offered this weekend are a week at a Vermont vacation house for 12, gift certificates to local restaurants, Westport Country Playhouse, Jacob’s Pillow, Newtown Color Center, Mona Lisa Restaurant, Sal e Pepe, La Fortuna, and others.

Items will also include quilted items from internationally known Turkish quilter Selma Kenter, a stay at the Fife n’ Drum in Kent, a $700 gift certificate toward treatment of Invasalign or braces and tooth whitening by Dr Aaron Gilman (Dental Associates), dental services from Dr Scott Bialik, a pair of orchestra seats for Bridgeport Symphony, a backstage tour for up to 12 at Boston Symphony, Avalone Wine Shop gift basket, kayaking lessons, and a pair of tickets for a Town Players of Newtown performance.

Tickets for dinner and the show are $35 per person, $65 per couple. Those who would like to attend the postdinner reception and enjoy the performance can pay $25 per person, $45 for a couple.
