With Illegal Drug Sales
State police arrested a Hawleyville couple on drug charges on November 3, following a lengthy investigation into their alleged illegal sale of prescription drugs.
The state policeâs Statewide Narcotics Task Forceâs northwest unit, which has been aided by Newtown police, charged Eric Channey, 49, and Harriet Channey, 49, both of Trailer #9 at Midway Mobile Home Estates at 160 Mt Pleasant Road (Route 6), each with sale of narcotics and with conspiracy to sell narcotics, according to state police.
Each person was released on $10,000 bail for November 16 arraignments in Danbury Superior Court.
On November 3 at about 11 am, state police executed a search-and-seizure warrant and two arrest warrants at the Channey residence. The drugs found there included more than 1,000 tablets of OxyContin, which is a pain killer, and approximately 500 tablets of Xanax, which is a tranquilizer, state police said.
Also, approximately $130,000 in cash and assorted drug records were found, state police said.
More arrests are expected in the case, according to state police.
