The Newtown Nighthawks Marching Band & Guard's penultimate competition of the season was the New England Regional Championships at Trumbull High School on November 4.

In the qualifying round, the Nighthawks won first place in its Class 4 group, as well as caption awards for Best Color Guard and Best Overall Effect.

In the championship round Newtown competed against larger Class 5 and Class 6 bands and won fifth place.

The Band & Guard's final competition of the season is the US Bands Open Class National Championships at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday, November 11.
