Local Students To Be Included In

St Valentine’s Day Project

Reed Intermediate School sixth grade chorus director Michelle Tenenbaum is looking for interested Newtown students to add their voice to a CD for the troops, which will be added to the St Valentine’s Day Project this year.

The St Valentine’s Day Project is a local effort to send valentines to troops overseas. Last year Ms Tenenbaum lead the volunteer chorus at Reed Intermediate School to record songs for the troops. Local student groups from school or churches are invited to join in the project this year.

If interested, choose a song and make sure the song is no longer than three minutes, has an upbeat, patriotic or inspirational theme and is either instrumental or with vocals. Interested participants are also asked to include a written introduction to the song, why it was selected, and one of the party’s members will be asked to record a reading of the introduction.

Ms Tenenbaum said interest Newtown students in the district looking to participate in the project must have clearance from their school’s music teacher first. A recording session must also be set up with Ms Tenenbaum by email. She also said a musical accompaniment, on CD or an instrumentalist, is optional, and a cappella is permitted.

Anyone interested can contact Ms Tenenbaum at tenenbaumm@newtown.k12.ct.us. The deadline to contact Ms Tenenbaum to participate in the CD project is November 30.
