Veterans’ Day

Ceremonies Slated

Two events will be held on Saturday, November 11, in honor of Veterans’ Day. Both events are open to the public.

At 10 am, The Persian Gulf War Memorial Committee will host a short ceremony at The Soldiers & Sailors Monument, at the corner of Main Street and Hanover Road. Committee members and friends will gather at the monument to commemorate and designate the future location of Newtown’s Persian Gulf Memorial, which will be in keeping with the size and shape of the monuments already in place.

At 11:11 am, VFW Post 308 will host its traditional Veterans’ Day ceremony. Don Monckton is coordinating this year’s event, with help from the post’s men’s and ladies’ auxiliaries. The short ceremony will include short speeches by Herb Rosenthal and Julia Wasserman. A buffet lunch will follow.
