Poetry Series To Feature Sunday Afternoon Readings

BETHEL — On Sunday afternoons in November the Friends of the Bethel Public Library will present the poetry of leading American poets.

On November 12, Sue Ellen Thompson, a long-time resident of Mystic, will read her own works, including poems from her latest book, The Golden Hour, published by Autumn House Press earlier this year.

Then on November 19, Bethel poet and novelist Gerard Brooker will read from his Even Whispers Can Be Heard (Goose River Press) and other writings.

The programs, to be held in the library’s historic Seelye Room, each begin at 2 pm, and will be followed by refreshments. Admission is free but seating is limited and reservations are required; call 794-8756 extension 4.

In addition to presenting the American Poets series, the Friends of the Bethel Public Library has made a special donation of $500 to the Bethel Public Library for the purchase of poetry. New additions to the library’s poetry collection will be on display during the poetry readings.
